Students in grades K-5 received their first report cards of the school year today. Parents should keep the report cards and sign and return the report card jackets only. Please also take a moment and review with your child what is reported on the document. Be sure to:
1.) Look for the good.
Celebrate all of the pluses and positives that are mentioned on the report card. If you make it a big deal, you increase the likelihood that it will happen again.
2.) Look for something that can be improved.
While there may be a number of areas in which your child can improve, just choose one. Engage your child in a discussion about what he or she can do to improve in that area. Also, discuss what you (the parent) will do to help.
