Immigration Day
The 5th graders participated in Immigration Day on Thursday, January 15. Students had the opportunity to demonstrate their learning by dressing up and sharing information learned about some of the immigrants, the conditions that existed and hardships faced during this time in history. Visit our Facebook page to view more photos from this awesome learning experience.
4K Applications
The Richland Two Center for Child Development offers free 4K Child Development classes to students who reside in Richland Two and qualify based on developmental readiness, free or reduced lunch status, or other determined risk factors. Registration is currently open and will continue through late March. Since space is limited, families should consider applying early. Applications can be accessed by visiting www.richland2.org/futurefamily. Parents must complete the online application and upload adequate, legible proofs of residence prior to attending the mandatory meeting scheduled for their zoned schools. Click here to view an informational flyer in English and Spanish, review a list of dates for the mandatory meetings and to find additional information regarding the application process.

Mrs. Compassion
The votes have been cast and counted and it's official; congratulations are in order for Mrs. Dana Quin. She was the staff member named Ms. Compassion for the month of December! Mrs. Quin is guilty as charged for often providing tasty treats for staff members, taking personal time to paint and create various educational-themed crafts for PRE employees, gifting us with lotion she makes herself, and always demonstrating high levels of sincere kindness toward students and staff. Congratulations, Mrs. Quin!

Class Pictures
Class pictures will be taken Monday, January 13. Individual student photos will not be taken, but rather photos of entire classes with homeroom teachers. We are therefore asking that all students dress in uniform attire for their class photos. Order envelopes were sent home with students this week. The cost is $10. Parents can send in cash in the exact amount or a check on Monday to order class pictures. All checks should be made payable to Strawbridge Studios. Class pictures can also be paid for online by visiting www.strawbridge.net and entering the code FM314577 when prompted. Parents who pay online should also send in the order envelope with the payment code received.
School Store
Polo Road's School Store is up and running! It is open every Friday from 7:30am - 8:00am in the hallway behind the multi-purpose room. Mrs. Dawson, our Afterschool Director, operates the store weekly with the help of our Student Council representatives.
Dr. King Holiday
In honor of the upcoming Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, all Richland Two schools and district offices will be closed Monday, January 20, 2020. We hope all students will take some time on this day to consider what roles they can play in being keepers of the dream Dr. King had and we look forward to seeing all students back at school, Tuesday, January 21.
Early Dismissal
Polo Road students will be dismissed at 11:30am on Thursday, January 16 and Friday, January 17 is a Teacher Workday. The Afternoon Explorers program will be open on Thursday for all those enrolled. If your child's mode of transportation home on the half day (Jan. 16) will differ from the norm, please let your child's teacher know as soon as possible.
