Chat n' Chew

Last week Polo Road's PTO sponsored PRE's first Chat n' Chew sessions.  The first was held at 10:00am and the second at 5:00pm on Thursday, October 24.  These sessions offered parents the opportunity to converse with Dr. Bosier in an intimate and informal setting.  Parents were able to have a dialogue with the principal regarding numerous topics relative to the school's operation and continued success.  According to the feedback received from some of the participants, Chat n' Chew was a success and very much appreciated.  We therefore thank the PTO for sponsoring this event, all those families who were able to attend, and Dr. Bosier for clearing her calendar and making this a priority.

Red Ribbon Week

Next week is Red Ribbon Week at Polo Road Elementary and we want all Explorers to get excited and participate!  Your child is invited to participate in a week of spirited fun-filled activities that are designed to promote making safe and healthy choices while also encouraging students to make personal commitments to be drug-free for life.  It is also our hope that families will use this week to engage in some meaningful conversations with students at home that relate to this very important topic.

Chat n' Chew with Dr. Bosier

Pathfinder Fitness Challenge

Envelopes for our annual Pathfinder Fitness Challenge were sent home with students last week!  The purpose of the Pathfinder Fitness Challenge (PFC) is to promote lifelong health and fitness for our students through running/walking while raising funds through public donations.  The funds raised are then used to upgrade the school's playground and athletic resources.  Donations also assist in funding individual classroom grant requests.  We will be collecting donations from October 14 - October 23.  Then on October 25, the PFC will take place with students engaging in a 30 minute run and/or walk.  Please review the additional information provided on the envelopes sent home.  We look forward to another successful PFC!

SC Palmetto Silver Award

We are so excited to share that Polo Road Elementary has earned the Palmetto Silver Award! The Palmetto Gold and Silver awards program was established by the Education Accountability Act (EAA) of 1998 “to recognize and reward schools for academic achievement and for closing the achievement gap.” Way to go Explorers!

Report Card Rating

School report cards were recently released for all public schools in South Carolina.  Polo Road's school report card rating currently stands at: GOOD.  Once you review the details, you will notice that PRE earned a raw score of "60" ; making it only ONE point away from EXCELLENT!  We are very excited about the teaching and learning taking place at Polo Road and encouraged to continue along our path to Excellence!  We would also like to thank all of our families for the continued support they provide at home and within the school.  Click here if you would like to view our school's report card in its entirety or to learn more about South Carolina's schools and districts.

Student Artwork at the State Fair

The following students had their artwork selected to be included in the Student Art display at this year’s S.C. State Fair.  Each year several art pieces are submitted by several schools from around the entire state, with very few pieces actually being chosen for display, so we are extremely proud of our Explorer Artists for earning such a big honor!  If you plan on going to the fair this year, please take a moment to stop by and view in person these great pieces.
