Back-to-School Success

Thank you for sharing your children with us!  It has been a pleasure getting to know them the past three days and we look forward to continued learning and success in the weeks and months to come.  Have a great weekend!

Bus Routes and Numbers

Some of the bus routes and bus numbers have changed this school year.  Please refer to the district's transportation site to view PRE bus numbers and stops.  Be sure you know the correct bus number your child is to ride and where your child is supposed to be picked up and dropped off each day.  There has been some confusion these past few days and as a result, some of the drivers have dropped students off nearer their homes for convenience purposes as opposed to at the designated stops.  Drivers have also dropped off students who are not assigned to ride their buses.  However, next week they will only pick up and drop off at the designated stops listed for Polo Road.  Refer to the column entitled "Stops" to determine your child's bus number and time of pick-up.  Parents must also complete a bus registration form to request bus services for their children.  If you have any questions or need additional assistance regarding which bus your child is to ride or where he or she will be dropped off and picked up, please contact the transportation department at 803.736.8718.

Carpool Procedures

The first day of school is fast approaching!  Students return Wednesday, August 21, and they will be arriving by foot, car, daycare van, and bus.  We therefore ask that you use the LifeSkills of Patience and Flexibility during the first couple weeks of school.

In order to ensure that carpool drop-off and dismissal run as smoothly as possible, please read and adhere to the procedures listed below.  Many families will be new to these procedures and they, along with the entire PRE faculty and staff, would greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we refine the process of accepting and dismissing students.  In order to receive and dismiss all students in a safe and orderly manner, we ask that you familiarize yourself with the following carpool procedures.
  • Every child needs hugs, kisses, or high-5s to start the school day.  Please take care of this before arriving in the drop-off zone each day.
  • Students may only begin exiting cars at 7:30am each morning when school employees come outside to greet and assist students.
  • Only the right lane is for drop-off and pick-up.  Merge into this lane as soon as you get to the yellow island.
  • Remain in the right lane until you are at the front of the school and allow your child to enter and exit the car from the passenger side only.
  • If you use the safety lock feature on your car, please remember to disable this feature when dropping off or picking up your student.
  • Remember to clearly display your child's car rider sign in the window of your vehicle during dismissal.  This helps our staff know that the person in the vehicle is authorized to pick up the student and it helps to expedite the pick-up process.
  • When a car does not have an official school sign, the driver will need to park and come into the front office (with ID) to obtain a sign, and then circle back into the carpool line.

We appreciate your continued support with these reminders.  We just want to do all that we can to ensure everyone's safety.
