Make-up Day

Richland Two will have school on Monday, February 19th, which is designated as an inclement weather makeup. On February 19th, students will be making up the day missed on January 17th.

Join the PRE Social Media Bandwagon!!!

In an effort to keep you up-to-date with the latest PRE news, we have decided to stir up a little competition amongst our classes! In your child's communication folder this week,  you will find the half sheet pictured below that details all of our social media "handles" for our school.

IMPORTANT: Please note that we have a NEW Facebook page. You must like the NEW page in order to get credit.

Please place a check in each circle beside the social medial outlets that you have followed/liked, fill out the information at the bottom, sign the sheet and send back to your child's teacher by the Feb. 5th deadline.

Each child that returns their completed and signed form will receive a small treat. The  K-2 and 3-5 class with the highest amount of returned forms by Feb. 5th will receive an additional treat!

Thanks for your help with this endeavor.

4K Application Process

The process is about to begin for enrolling students in Richland Two's 4K program for the 2018-2019 school year.  Parents must attend one of the scheduled information meetings in order to complete an application and receive an appointment for the required student screening.  All meetings will be held at R2i2 in the Village at Sandhill (763 Fashion Dr.).  However, the date for your child's meeting is dependent upon his or her zoned school.  The meeting for Polo Road families will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2018 at 6:00pm, and there will be Spanish translators available.  Click on the 4K program link above to view all of the specific dates and times for all other Richland Two schools.

Flu Facts

PRE has already had some confirmed cases of students and faculty members with the flu.  We therefore want to do all possible to prevent a massive spread of this virus.  Please review the attached Influenza (Flu) Fact Sheet for Parents for some very valuable information regarding the flu and ways in which to prevent it from spreading.  Since the flu is often confused with the common cold, the fact sheet also provides information on how to distinguish between the two. You can also get additional information by visiting www.cdc.gov/flu or www.dhec.sc.gov/flu.

School Uniforms

Greetings Explorer Families,
This is a gentle reminder of the fact that we are uniform school. Our boys and girls look great when they come to school dressed for success and ready to learn in uniformed attire.

Why do we encourage our students to wear uniforms at PRE?

Here are some facts:

  1. School uniforms keep students focused on their education, not their clothes.
  2. School uniforms create a level playing field among students, reducing peer pressure and bullying.
  3. Wearing uniforms enhances school pride, unity, and community spirit.
  4. School uniforms may improve attendance and discipline.
  5. School uniforms prevent the display of gang colors and insignia.
  6. School uniforms make getting ready for school easier, which can improve punctuality.
  7. School uniforms can save parents money.
  8. Most parents and educators support and encourage school uniforms.
  9. Students dressed in uniform are better perceived by teachers and peers.
  10. Students can express their individuality in school uniforms by introducing variations and adding accessories.
